The Ferrous Metal Separator is designed to extract items containing ferrous metals or metal-bearing particles from waste streams. It is a critical component of any waste sorting line.
The separator operates by using a permanent magnetic field to attract ferrous metal items to a moving conveyor belt, which then discharges them into a collection area. The separator consists of two drums: a drive drum with an autonomous, non-adjustable rotation drive, and an idler drum. The magnetic separator's conveyor is positioned perpendicular to and up to 250 mm above the main waste conveyor belt. As waste moves through the separator's magnetic field zone—generated by permanent magnets over a specific length—ferrous fractions are attracted to the separator. Their movement and discharge are facilitated by the motion of the separator's own conveyor belt.
